“Success has many parents, failure is an orphan”. So goes the saying and just as we had as many cheerleaders of the Celtic Tiger, we have silence (though an awful lot of finger-pointing) with dealing with the Bust. David McWilliams yesterday examined the curious case of Sean Fitzpatrick, a man who transformed a sleepy unexciting financial institution into a global brand in property financing but whose downfall sees us all examining his faults in great detail. David McWilliams reminds us there is a wide network of individuals who appear to be keeping their heads down lest the public and indeed State Inquisition be visited upon them. It is a reminder that we are indeed in a mess but that blame for that mess does not all end up on a doostep in Greystones.
