@WSTT if one more person asks me about the Irish ‘permit’ to drive drunk….anyway why you watching Fox-you should be working..we only allowed CNBC!

A little off-topic but Fox News just got hold of the story that an “Irish meat producer” has been putting horse meat in Burger King burgers. It is being repeated all over America ad nauseum on the 24 hour news station.. Not good for the Irish food industry – to say the least.

Larry Goodman is a large property speculator with the Irish taxpayer /government as his tenant. He owns many properties in Dublin including Setanta house in Kildare street. Does he own Leinster house? Perhaps some other bloggers might knpw.

Business and economics coverage has long been a joke in Irish newspapers, with the honourable exception being the Sunday Times, where Brian Carey and team produce a consistently insightful paper with a great breadth of coverage. The fact that many of us spend more time reading excellent blogs and sites such as namawinelake and True Economics, highlights how poorly served we are by much of the output of Irish papers.

The Irish Times itself is struggling to maintain its paper-of-record position.

It is no such thing. The IT is a Public Relations desk for hire to large institutions public and private within Ireland, and sometimes beyond.

In recent weeks, Simon Carswell who knows as much as anyone about the banking collapse has departed to work as the Washington Correspondent for the Irish Times, Laura Noonan has moved to Reuters, her former colleague Emmet Oliver has long since jumped ship to the PR department at the IDA, Niamh Hennessey at the Examiner is in PR at AIB.

Carswell knows far too much about the Irish Crisis/Crime-wave already. He’s been shifted out to prevent another book like “Anglo Republic” arriving on shelves in the near future. I note that some of the others have simply moved into official PR work. Personally, I regard this as a form of revolving-door syndrome.
